Follow the prompts and click&nbsp;<em>Finish.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Open SOLIDWORKS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Go to&nbsp;<em>Tools<\/em>,<em>&nbsp;Add-ins, Other Add-ins.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable&nbsp;<em>Active Add-ins<\/em>&nbsp;for KeyShot.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enable&nbsp;<em>Start-up<\/em>&nbsp;for KeyShot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<em>OK.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SOLIDWORKS-KeyShotAdd-InMenu\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"KeyShot_Add-In_Menu\"><\/span>KeyShot Add-In Menu<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once installed, a&nbsp;<em>KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;menu will appear on top of the SOLIDWORKS&nbsp;<em>CommandManager&nbsp;<\/em>when a part or assembly is opened.&nbsp;(If the KeyShot toolbar does not appear, right-click in the toolbar area and select&nbsp;<em>KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;or go to&nbsp;<em>Tools &gt; Customize\u2026 &gt; Toolbar<\/em>s&nbsp;and check&nbsp;<em>KeyShot<\/em>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Send to KeyShot<br><\/strong>Click the&nbsp;<em>Send to KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;button to launch KeyShot. The&nbsp;3D data will be transferred from SOLIDWORKS&nbsp;to KeyShot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Update KeyShot<br><\/strong>Click the&nbsp;<em>Update KeyShot&nbsp;<\/em>button to import\/update to an open KeyShot Scene. This will import your 3D data or update any changes on your model.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Export to KeyShot file<br><\/strong>Click the&nbsp;<em>Export to KeyShot file<\/em>&nbsp;button to export your geometry as a .BIP file that you can share with other KeyShot users. KeyShot will not launch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>KeyShot Export Settings<br><\/strong>Click the&nbsp;<em>KeyShot Export Settings<\/em>&nbsp;button to change the export settings for sending and exporting models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><em>Separate materials<\/em>: This option will isolate linked materials to each part by prefixing the part name to each material name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Interpolate exported animations<\/em>: By default, animation frames are interpolated in KeyShot. On some models (fast rotations at low frame rates, for instance) this can lead to choppy results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Automatically resolve components<\/em>: For best results and consistency, all components should be fully resolved before sending or exporting. This option makes sure that any Lightweight Components will automatically become fully resolved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Include NURBS:&nbsp;<\/em>When enabled, NURBS data will be sent along with the model to KeyShot. This will allow you to re-tessellate inside of KeyShot and display your model with perfectly smooth rounds. Keep in mind that this will add to transfer time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SOLIDWORKS-SupportedFeatures\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Supported_Features\"><\/span>Supported Features<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;KeyShot SOLIDWORKS add-in supports these features:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maintain assembly structure<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain part level appearance assignments to face, feature, body and part<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Option to Separate Materials by part (all part materials will be unlinked when checked)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LiveLinking (update model inside KeyShot)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Export KeyShot .bip without KeyShot installed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patterned components import as instances<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NURBS import (requires KeyShot Pro)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Motion Study import (requires KeyShot Pro)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SOLIDWORKS-HowToUseThePlugin\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_To_Use_The_Plugin\"><\/span>How To Use The Plugin<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Open your assembly\/part in SOLIDWORKS.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click&nbsp;<em>Send to KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;to launch KeyShot. The&nbsp;3D data will be transferred from SOLIDWORKS&nbsp;to KeyShot.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To&nbsp;Update&nbsp;any changes made in SOLIDWORKS, click&nbsp;<em>Update KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;while your KeyShot scene is still open. All materials, textures, labels, animations, transformations, cameras, and lighting in the scene will be maintained.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Locking, re-ordering or renaming a model in KeyShot will block that model from being updated. Notice that when renaming a part\/model, it will be re-imported, when you update, so you end up with 2 versions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To add a part or assembly to an open KeyShot scene, click&nbsp;<em>Update KeyShot,&nbsp;<\/em>even if the scene does not already contain the source model.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To include animations from SOLIDWORKS, activate a Motion Study tab in the assembly and then click&nbsp;<em>Send to KeyShot<\/em>. The plugin will&nbsp;automatically ask whether you want to export the model with animations. Activate the Model tab&nbsp;to export normally.\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Previously imported Motion Study animations will remain in the scene if a scene is updated. For best results, delete the old Motion Study animation in KeyShot prior to sending updates to KeyShot.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-columns gb-layout-columns-1 one-column\"><div class=\"gb-layout-column-wrap gb-block-layout-column-gap-2 gb-is-responsive-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-column info-box gb-block-layout-column\"><div class=\"gb-block-layout-column-inner\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"note\">Note<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>Always use the same SOLIDWORKS&nbsp;mode with which you started. If your initial data transfer was done while in assembly mode, then all of your updates should be performed while in assembly mode. Similarly, if your initial data transfer was done while in part mode, then all of your updates should be performed while in part mode.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-columns gb-layout-columns-1 one-column\"><div class=\"gb-layout-column-wrap gb-block-layout-column-gap-2 gb-is-responsive-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-column tip-box gb-block-layout-column\"><div class=\"gb-block-layout-column-inner\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"tip\"><strong>T<\/strong>i<strong>p<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>To increase surface smoothness inside SOLIDWORKS, go to&nbsp;<em>Tools<\/em> &gt;&nbsp;<em>Options<\/em> &gt;&nbsp;<em>Document Properties<\/em>&nbsp;and increase&nbsp;<em>Image Quality.&nbsp;<\/em>You can then use the&nbsp;<em>Send to KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;button to update your assembly\/part.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SOLIDWORKS-WorkingwithMaterials\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Working_with_Materials\"><\/span>Working with Materials<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Part level appearances in SOLIDWORKS define material breakup in KeyShot.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you have the same appearances applied to multiple parts but want to edit them independently as unlinked materials in KeyShot use the&nbsp;<em>Separate materials<\/em>&nbsp;KeyShot Export Setting to isolate linked materials to each part.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In order to correctly maintain material assignments in KeyShot when LiveLinking\/Updating Geometry, it&#8217;s important that you do not use the&nbsp;<em>Unlink Materials<\/em>&nbsp;command in KeyShot. However, using the&nbsp;<em>Link Materials&nbsp;<\/em>command is fine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When projecting a label or texture onto a pattern of objects with linked materials such as a packaging display, use Center On Part texture mapping mode in KeyShot.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"SOLIDWORKS-WorkingwithConfigurations\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Working_with_Configurations\"><\/span>Working with Configurations<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to add multiple SOLIDWORKS Configurations to a single KeyShot Pro scene you can use the following method:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>With SOLIDWORKS configuration &#8220;A&#8221; active, use the plugin&nbsp;<em>Send to KeyShot<\/em>&nbsp;command to launch KeyShot and import model to the Default Model Set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a new Model Set, where you include the content from the Default Model Set. This will be your configuration &#8220;A&#8221;.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make the Default Model Set active, and hide the new Model Set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With SOLIDWORKS Configuration &#8220;B&#8221; active, use the plugin &#8220;Update KeyShot&#8221; command to update the model in the Default Model Set with the active Configuration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Add a new Model Set, where you include the content from the Default Model Set.
