Each node has different input and output channels (sockets) depending on the type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:40%\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"MaterialGraphNodes-RootNode\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Root_Node\"><\/span>Root Node<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All materials have one Root node&nbsp;which is marked with a thicker border (fig. 1). When it is released onto the + socket or the node, a context menu will show all of the available channel options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once a connection is made, a blue line will appear connecting the 2 nodes. Right click the line to remove or disable the connection. A disabled connection will be displayed as a grey dashed line. Double click a node to see the properties for that node.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Node preview options:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Material Graph&#8217;s node preview options enable you to&nbsp;adjust your texture node, while you can see it on the model in the Real time view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-4372\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/preview_color_icon.png\" alt=\"\"> Preview Color &#8211; This preview shows the color of texture before it is used to alter the material (fig. 3). The Hotkey&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>&nbsp;will toggle the color preview.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-4375\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/preview_alpha_icon.png\" alt=\"\"> Preview Alpha &#8211; This preview shows the alpha channel on the texture, before it is used to alter the material. If you want to use the Alpha channel to mask out the Opacity, you need to set the&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/textures\/map-types\/\" data-type=\"manual_documentation\" data-id=\"5289\">Opacity Map Mode<\/a><\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>Alpha<\/em>, on the material receiving the texture, otherwise the opacity will be created using the color of the texture. The Hotkey&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&nbsp;will toggle the alpha preview. Note that the only procedural texture that includes an alpha channel is the Mesh texture all the others will just appear solid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-4378\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/preview_bump_icon.png\" alt=\"\"> Preview Bump &#8211; This preview shows the texture will be translated into a normal map, which is the basis for the bump effect. In the example above, the Bump node is selected and isolated on the model in the real-time view.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"MaterialGraphNodes-Multi-Materials\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Multi-Materials\"><\/span>Multi-Materials<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have a Multi-Material shown in the Material Graph, all variations will be visible.
