the Cutaway Material<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Simply add the geometry you want to use for the cut, place it so it cuts into your model and assign the cutaway material simple geometry (sphere, cube etc.) into your scene from the&nbsp;<em>Main Menu &gt; Edit &gt; Add Geometry.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Cutaway-CapTypes\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Cap_Types\"><\/span>Cap Types<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex open.<\/li><li><strong>Inherit Caps<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; The cuts will be capped with the material of the part that is cut into<\/li><li><strong>Color<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; The cuts will be capped with a solid color. When this option is selected the cap color will be shown &#8211; click the color input to set another color.<\/li><li><strong>Material<\/strong>&nbsp;&#8211; Use another material for the caps. Drag a material from the Library to the material field in the cutaway material properties. Click the material field to edit the material.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Cutaway-ExcludedObjects\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Excluded_Objects\"><\/span>Excluded Objects<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>If you only want to cut into some of the parts of your model you can exclude objects from the cutaway. Click the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-3229\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/add_icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;add button and select the nodes you want to exclude. To remove a part from the exclusion select it in the list and click the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"wp-image-3232\" style=\"width: 16px\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/trash_icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;delete button.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Cutaway-Limitations\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Limitations\"><\/span>Limitations<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Opacity maps on cutaway caps are not supported<\/li><li>Fade Animations are not supported with cutaway materials&nbsp;<\/li><li>Show Caps is intended to be used together with fully closed surfaces (solids). Caps may show artifacts with non-closed geometry.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Cutaway-KnownIssues\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Known_Issues\"><\/span>Known Issues<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Co-planar surfaces:\u00a0If you have two co-planar parts where one is excluded form the cutaway and you use inherit caps or material caps. Artefacts can occur on the surface of the excluded material.<\/li><li><strong>Shadows:<\/strong>\u00a0Cutaway material may interfere with shadows on the environment ground.
