{"id":3148,"date":"2020-07-07T13:51:03","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T13:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bssrdf.com\/?post_type=manual_documentation&#038;p=3148"},"modified":"2022-02-10T09:46:58","modified_gmt":"2022-02-10T08:46:58","slug":"rounded-edges","status":"publish","type":"manual_documentation","link":"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/models-tab\/rounded-edges\/","title":{"rendered":"Rounded Edges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-9d6595d7 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>The Rounded Edges feature allows you to simulate fillets on parts, without actually altering the geometry in your modelling software and thus causing an increase of triangle-count.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The adjustment sliders can be accessed by selecting one or more part-level objects in the Scene Tree, which will then display the Rounded Edges accordion in the Properties sub-tab below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"RoundedEdges-Radius\">Radius<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<em>Radius<\/em>&nbsp;slider is unit-aware to your Scene Units. Because it is a simulated effect, you will experience the best results if you keep this value low.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"RoundedEdges-MinimumEdgeAngle\">Minimum Edge Angle<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Minimum Edge Angle slider allows you to limit Rounded Edges to corners greater than the set degree value.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/project_scene_rounded_edges-652x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3149\" width=\"326\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/project_scene_rounded_edges-652x1024.png 652w, https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/project_scene_rounded_edges-191x300.png 191w, https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2020\/07\/project_scene_rounded_edges.png 764w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 326px) 100vw, 326px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-columns gb-layout-columns-1 one-column\"><div class=\"gb-layout-column-wrap gb-block-layout-column-gap-2 gb-is-responsive-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-column warning-box gb-block-layout-column\"><div class=\"gb-block-layout-column-inner\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"warning\">Warning<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>The Rounded edges will be applied to all instances of the selected part. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You get <a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/models-tab\/duplicating-models-parts\/\" data-type=\"manual_documentation\" data-id=\"3135\">instanced geometry<\/a> either from importing models with instanced geometry, or from duplicating parts inside KeyShot (through simple <a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/models-tab\/duplicating-models-parts\/\" data-type=\"manual_documentation\" data-id=\"3135\">duplication<\/a>, Copy to Model Set or the <a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/models-tab\/pattern-tool\/\" data-type=\"manual_documentation\" data-id=\"3140\">Pattern tool<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Workaround:<\/strong><br>If you don&#8217;t want to apply the rounded edges to all instances, you will need to &#8220;break the link&#8221; to the other instances of the part. This can be achieved by using one of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/tools-3\/\" data-type=\"manual_documentation\" data-id=\"5634\">Geometry tools<\/a>&nbsp;on the instance you want the rounded edges applied to.
