{"id":16053,"date":"2021-11-10T11:54:05","date_gmt":"2021-11-10T10:54:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/?post_type=manual_documentation&#038;p=16053"},"modified":"2022-11-22T12:59:20","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T11:59:20","slug":"physics-simulation","status":"publish","type":"manual_documentation","link":"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/tools-3\/physics-simulation\/","title":{"rendered":"Physics Simulation"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-does-the-tool-do\">What does the tool do?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>physics simulation<\/em> tool enables you to do physics simulation in your scene, and record it as <a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/animation\/working-with-animations\/\">Keyframe animations.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-use-physics-simulation\">How to use Physics Simulation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Launch the&nbsp;<em>Physics Simulation<\/em>&nbsp;tool<\/strong><br>The <em>Physics Simulation<\/em> tool can be launched either from the&nbsp;<em>Tools<\/em>&nbsp;Section in the Ribbon, or via right-click on a model or part in the scene tree or Real-time view.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Select a part or model<\/strong><br>In the scene tree list to the right, select which parts or models should be included in the simulation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simulation Time<\/strong><br>This allows you to determine how long the simulation is going to last. Note that if your simulation time is 0 the animation will run until everything is settled. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Keyframes per Second<\/strong><br>You can adjust how many Keyframes per second your Keyframe animation should contain.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simulation Quality<\/strong><br>This allows you to control how many steps per second are calculated. By increasing this your simulation becomes more accurate, but it will also take longer to calculate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adjust the Gravity<\/strong><br>You can set your gravity to a value between 0 and 100.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Friction<\/strong><br>Allows you to globally control the static and dynamic friction on all objects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bounciness<\/strong><br>Allows you to globally control how bouncy objects are, when colliding with other objects or the ground. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>As Parts<\/strong><br>As Parts allows you settle the parts of your model individually.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Begin Simulation\/Stop Simulation<\/strong><br>If you have made all the adjustments above, you can click Begin Simulation. You can also stop the simulation clicking the same button.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Animation Timeline<\/strong><br>In the simplified <a href=\"https:\/\/manual.keyshot.com\/keyshot11\/manual\/animation\/\">animation timeline<\/a> you can see and re-run the created Keyframe animations. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><strong>OK or Cancel<\/strong><\/strong><br>To finalize the changes to the scene and close the dialog, click <em>OK. Cancel<\/em>&nbsp;will revert all changes and exit the dialog.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-columns gb-layout-columns-1 one-column\"><div class=\"gb-layout-column-wrap gb-block-layout-column-gap-2 gb-is-responsive-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-column warning-box gb-block-layout-column\"><div class=\"gb-block-layout-column-inner\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"known-limitations\">Known Limitations<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Physics Simulation only works with mesh objects, and not with NURBS-only or Curve objects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Physics Simulation does not take other animations into account.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-columns gb-layout-columns-1 one-column\"><div class=\"gb-layout-column-wrap gb-block-layout-column-gap-2 gb-is-responsive-column\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-genesis-blocks-gb-column info-box gb-block-layout-column\"><div class=\"gb-block-layout-column-inner\">\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Note<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<p>When colliding an object with a surface object e.g. a ground plane, make sure the surface normals of your ground plane are pointing in the direction of the colliding object.
